Influence of Job Characteristics and Organizational Communication on the Job Satisfaction of Hospital Nurses

Abstract
This study was to identify the effect of job satisfaction through job characteristics and organizational communication, especially to the members of nurse working in the hospital. The subjects were 229 registered nurses who were working in eight hospitals. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson"s correlation coefficients, and Multiple Stepwise Regression. There was positive correlation between job characteristics and job satisfaction as well as between communication and job satisfaction. Task significance and autonomy that are sub variables of job characteristics affected to the job satisfaction. Moreover, Communication with top managements and direct supervisor that are sub variables of communication were significant to the job satisfaction.
The results indicate that institutional support of job characteristics is required in order to increase job satisfaction for nurses. Development of communication program for nurses with top managements and direct supervisor are also required.
